Virtual Frog Dissection Educational App http://frogvirtualdissection.com/ This workshop is designed to show educators the benefits and uses of iPads and the apps that are available. The best way to see the benefits is by doing an activity that can be used in the classroom. This site allows for a virtual frog dissection via an app. This is a great alternative to dissecting live animals and students will still get the knowledge acquired by doing hands on real frog dissection. This app contains dissection tools, instructions (via voiceovers and written text), detailed classification, organ functions and many other features. This is an app that can be used on desktops, laptops, netbooks, iPads and interactive whiteboards.
The home screen of the app contains tabs for easy access to the process that students need to complete. To start the dissection process, press the “Start Dissection” button.

To begin the dissection process students will select the tools that are necessary. Screen shoots of the exterior and interior anatomy must be taken and students will also be responsible for labeling the frog’s organs.

Students can then take this learning experience and record it in their science journal. A scientific journal should be something that reflects what the students have learned and any questions that they had that are now answered by the scientific process.
